About the Artist
B. Islip, New York. Smith has quietly been on the rise as a self-made cartoonist after contributing his Ropeburn strip to Art Prostitute Issue 05, which he continued to do until the publications hiatus in 2007. That year he received a grant from the Xeric Foundation which he produced his first printed collection of Ropeburn comics. The work is the culmination years of keen observation within the service industry and everyday life. The recurring cast of characters illuminate the meaning in everyday interactions, through humor and with a sardonic wit. In addition to his contribution to Art Prostitute, Smith has also contributed work to the Portland Mercury and is currently pursuing a career as a nationally syndicated cartoonist. Jeremy Smith lives and works in Denton, Texas.

About the Exhibition
Looking Back will feature a new body of Smith's small scale drawings and original strips, as well as those from the first Ropeburn publication and Art Prostitute.

About The Public Trust
Formerly Art Prostitute Gallery, The Public Trust was established in 2004 by Brian Gibb, co-founder of Art Prostitute, the highly acclaimed international art publication, which will reemerge as a hardcover book in 2009. Since its inception the gallery has focused on an art movement led by artists, from coast to coast, who have simultaneously impacted the face of contemporary art and popular culture. The gallery primarily exhibits drawings and paintings which are often accompanied by site specific installations. The Public Trust caters to collectors of all levels by showcasing emerging and established artists as well as offering limited edition prints from many of the exhibiting artists.
